PISCATAWAY, NJ — As some Middlesex County residents continue to face hardships brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kiwanis Club of Franklin/Somerset teamed up with students from Piscataway High School’s Key Club with their food drive to assist Elijah’s Promise Community Soup Kitchen with providing snack items to those in need.

Led by Mitch Fuhr, a teacher at Piscataway High School and Kiwanis Club Treasurer, the service organizations reached out to the community for donations, receiving fruit cups, granola bars, fruit juice, fruit snacks, and packages of tissues and alcohol wipes. They collected enough to pack 100 snack bags for the New Brunswick based non-profit.

“It is a great honor to be able to assist Elijah’s Promise in providing the community with some comfort during these times,” said Zunilda Sanchez, the Kiwanis Club’s secretary who helped deliver the snack packages early last week.
