PISCATAWAY, NJ – Piscataway residents who have been waiting for the new community center to open will have to wait a while longer.
In a Monday Facebook post, township officials announced that the center’s grand opening celebration has been postponed due to current pandemic response mandates.
“We are all excited for the YMCA at the Piscataway Community Center (YPCC),” said officials. “However, due to these challenging times, its grand opening is postponed from the planned May 16th date in accordance with the state order that all gyms must be closed at this time. Township and YMCA of MEWSA officials will be able to determine a new opening date once the state order is lifted.”
“While this Saturday’s membership pre-sales and job fair event has been cancelled, please know that township and YMCA of MEWSA officials plan to maintain great perks for you. These include a period of time to sign up and have the joiner’s fee waived as well as certain days that Piscataway residents can try out the YPCC at no cost. In addition, the YMCA of MEWSA is looking to offer online joining opportunities before the YPCC doors open.
Thanks to all of you for your patience and understanding. Looking forward to the wonderful family fun that we will all have at the YPCC!”
