PISCATAWAY, NJ – Piscataway government officials announced that they are reviewing the recent round of property tax assessment notices that were mailed to homeowners in certain neighborhoods saying a computer error may have caused incorrect totals to be printed.

They provided an explanation in a Facebook post on Thursday:

“An unfortunate software glitch has wrongly modified the assessment totals provided on a very small number of property assessment cards among thousands recently sent out to homeowners throughout the township. Our tax assessor’s office is now manually inspecting the assessments of the affected neighborhoods and hopes to have this review complete by next week.
