PISCATAWAY, NJ - The afternoon sun quickly turned into darkness as a line of severe thunderstorms moved through Piscataway and the surrounding areas at the afternoon rush hour on Monday.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm warning and reported the storms moving east with strong wind gusts.
Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the area.
Officials at NWS also issued a flash flood warning for Middlesex County and other sections of New Jersey until Monday at 10:30 p.m.
According to their alert, a flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
“If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately,” they said. “Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.”
