PISCATAWAY, NJ — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Sunday until 8:45 p.m. for Piscataway and the surrounding areas.
According to the warning issued at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, a line of heavy showers and bands of thunderstorms are expected to move across the region from the west with wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. Up to half an inch of rain is possible.
Downed trees and power lines could result causing power outages across the township.
Residents are urged to seek shelter during the storm and to secure any outdoor items that can be blown around.
Motorists should use caution while driving.
