PISCATAWAY, NJ — A fast moving thunderstorm blew through Piscataway late Saturday afternoon causing flooding and downing trees in some areas.
Quarter-sized hail and wind gusts were reported along Stelton Road near Old New Brunswick Road before flash flooding near the Quick Chek made for slow travel for motorists.
And on Plainfield Ave. in the Heights section of town, fire crews and PSEG responded to clear a large tree that appeared to have fallen on power lines near a home.
According to a severe thunderstorm warning from the National Weather Service, the 5:00 pm storm dumped several inches of rain in some sections but cleared from the Piscataway area by 5:30 pm when the alert expired.
