PISCATAWAY, NJ — Middlesex County health officials reported 3 new positive COVID-19 cases since Monday, bringing the total to 894 residents who have tested positive in Piscataway. No additional information regarding the new cases was provided.

The reported death toll remains at 36 for the township.

According to covid19.nj.gov, there are now 17,119 positive cases in Middlesex County and 1,174 confirmed deaths.

The New Jersey Department of Health reported on Wednesday a total of 176,278 positive cases of the coronavirus since the pandemic began its spread in the state 136 days ago, and a total of 13,660 deaths during that time, an increase of 25 overnight. 

There have been 1,742,347 COVID-19 tests administered statewide.

Hospital numbers ticked slightly up since earlier in the week: 923 patients being treated, 151 in intensive or critical care and 78 requiring ventilators. The positivity rate remains below 1.0 at .93, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas. These are the best ways to reduce the rapid spread of the virus.
