PISCATAWAY, NJ - Middlesex County health officials are reporting 6 new positive COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total to 614 Piscataway residents who have tested positive for COVID-19.  The reported death toll remains at 14 for the township.

There are now 9,789 positive cases in Middlesex County and 413 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Statewide, there are 102,196 cases, an increase of 2,207 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 5,617, an increase of 249 overnight, according to the State Department of Health.

Statewide there have been 100,159 negative test results. 

Also, according to New Jersey Commissioner of Health Judith Persichilli, several key statistics are moving in the right direction, including a 17 percent decrease from the high water mark of 8,293 hospitalized patients and a nearly 13 percent decrease in the number of intensive care patients on ventilators.

Health officials urge residents to continue practicing social distancing and limit gatherings in the effort to flatten the curve.
