PISCATAWAY, NJ - Middlesex County health officials reported 4 new positive COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 798 residents who have tested positive in Piscataway. No additional information regarding the new cases was provided.

The reported death toll remains at 30 for the township.

There are now 14,954 positive cases in Middlesex County and 913 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Statewide, there are 150,399 cases, an increase of 974 overnight, with 10,747 deaths reported, an increase of 161 since Tuesday, according to the State Department of Health.

“The total number of hospitalizations is now well less than half of what it was just four weeks ago,” Governor Murphy said in his Wednesday briefing. “The rate of new cases at our long-term care facilities continues downward from the peak. The numbers of lab-confirmed deaths associated with our long-term care facilities are also decreasing from the peak.”

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas. These are the best ways to reduce the rapid spread of the virus.
