PISCATAWAY, NJ — Middlesex County health officials reported 20 new positive COVID-19 cases in Piscataway over the last 24-hour period, bringing the total to 442 residents who have tested positive. No additional information regarding the new cases was provided.

According to covid19.nj.gov, there are now 7,308 positive cases in Middlesex County and 309 deaths.

Statewide, there are 78,467 cases, an increase of 3,150 overnight, with the statewide death toll now at 3,840, an increase of 322 overnight, according to the State Department of Health.

Statewide there have been 78,982 negative test results.

The increasing cases are expected as the total number of positive cases throughout the state has increased, said health officials.

Residents are reminded to remain vigilant in following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control, the State of New Jersey, and public health officials when it comes to social distancing, hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes, and disinfecting common areas. These are the best ways to reduce the rapid spread of the virus.
