PISCATAWAY, NJ - The number of COVID-19 cases in Piscataway increased by 22 overnight, bringing the total to 704, reported Middlesex County health officials on Wednesday. The death toll remains at 14 for the township.

There are now 11,436 positive cases in Middlesex County and 531 deaths, according to covid19.nj.gov.

Statewide, there are 116,264 cases, an increase of 2,408 overnight, according to the State Department of Health. There are 6,770 COVID-19 related deaths, an increase of 328 from Tuesday.

Statewide, there have been 125,054 negative test results.

Hospital census reports continue to play an important role in tracking trends regarding COVID-19 progress. Statewide, New Jersey hospital beds were assigned to 6,289 patients. Although only 66 of the state's 71 hospitals reported on discharges, that number reached somewhat of a high at 613.  Ventilator use was up slightly to 1,327 patients requiring mechanical assistance to breathe.

Health officials urge residents to continue practicing social distancing and limit gatherings in the effort to flatten the curve.
