PISCATAWAY, NJ — Weather forecasters are calling for freezing temperatures overnight, which can be very dangerous for pets.

New Jersey law says dogs cannot be outside without proper shelter (e.g., insulated, elevated, heated) if temperatures fall below 34 degrees. Keep your pets safe and avoid getting a fine by bringing your pets indoors any time the temperature drops.

If you see a pet left outside in freezing conditions without shelter, contact Edison Animal Control at (732) 248-7278 during normal business hours 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  If you have an animal control emergency after hours, contact the Piscataway Police Department at (732) 562-1100.
