EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ - More is happening to the retail environment on Route 18 as closed stores become new venues for commerce in the township.  Big Lots, a discount store featuring merchandise ranging from furniture to food, is coming to the location formerly occupied byt the Hong Kong Supermarket.  The new East Brunswick Big Lots store ribbon-cutting will take place on October 12, at 8:30 a.m. at the new store located at 275 Route 18 South in East Brunswick.

"Community connection is important to Big Lots, which is why we are reaching out to you to invite you to participate in our celebration. In addition, Big Lots is partnering with Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick, which is a charity organization that enriches the lives of seniors and assists them in maintaining independence by providing nutritious food, human connections and social services support, to raise awareness and needed funds for the organization. Big Lots will support this charity through its BIG Rewards Program. Each time a shopper redeems their BIG Rewards, Big Lots will donate $5 to the East Brunswick, NJ community through Meals on Wheels in Greater New Brunswick," says a press release issued by Big Lots representatives.

In addition, the first 50 shoppers entering the store (including attendees at the ribbon cutting celebration) on October 12, will receive a reusable shopping bag filled with tasty treats from Big Lots.

"This store opening is part of a broader company initiative which aligns with Big Lots’ vision to become a new kind of community retailer which invests directly in its community. This store and all new Big Lots stores will provide a less-cluttered, more comfortable and roomier experience for its shoppers. From improved store design to new restroom finishes and new shopping carts, Big Lots is dedicated to a more pleasant shopping experience,"  says the press release.
