Part of New Brunswick Jazz Project's mission is to showcase the next generation of jazz musicians, the future "greats!" This is a chance to see them now! Tuesday, trumpeter, Jared Clifton, leads the band and open session. We will also have a master musician sitting in during the open jam session which begins at 8:00. All are welcome.

Sylvia Cuenca is an active drummer on the New York jazz scene who is contributing outstanding performances in a variety of situations. She has had the honor of sharing the bandstand with saxophone legend Joe Henderson for 4 years and trumpet legend Clark Terry for 17 years. She performed with the Clark Terry Quintet and Big Band at Village Vanguard, Birdland, Blue Note, Queen Elizabeth 2, Royal Viking, S.S. Norway jazz cruises and clubs, concerts and festivals in the U.S, Europe, the Caribbean, and South America. She also had the opportunity to perform with guest artists Al Grey, Red Holloway, Jimmy Heath, Marian McPartland and Frank Wess to name a few.

As a freelance Baritone Saxophonist, Chicago native Dave Schumacher has been active on the New York scene for more than the 30 years. As a leader and composer/arranger, Dave has recorded 3 CD’s – Every Corner and from Another Life on the Amosaya Music label and Endangered Species on Summit Records. Dave has recorded as a sideman with Lionel Hampton, Harry Connick, Jr., Tom Harrell, Scott Whitfield, Jason Lindner, Mel Torme, Ben Wolfe, and salsero Billy Carrion among others.

Mindfulness teaches us to be compassionate, non-judgmental observers of our own experience. Mindfulness meditation helps us reduce stress & be calmer. All are welcome -beginners and those with previous experience. Participants are encouraged to find their preferred method.

Liza Treyger is an American comedian who has appeared on Comedy Central as well as the Laugh Factory. She is Jewish and emigrated from Ukraine to Chicago, Illinois during the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1990. Treyger is known for her self-deprecating comedy and for making heavy women feel more comfortable joking about their weight.

New Brunswick Jazz Project-Alex Collins Duo 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Where: Due Mari

Alex Collins is a composer/arranger and pianist. As a performer, he can be seen at venues from jazz clubs to concert halls playing all styles of music. His compositions have been performed at the Kennedy Center, Eastman Theatre, among many other venues.

Where: Cook Douglass Recreation Center

Join the Rutgers Recreation Department for a leisurely rails-to-trails bicycle tour along the Delaware River, where they will stop for some excellent locally roasted and brewed coffee (and maybe a snack). This is a nice way to spend the afternoon outside without going too far off the beaten path.
