Let’s face it: No one is ever going to eat all that Halloween candy. Why not chop up those fun-size chocolate bars and throw them into some cookie dough with a handful or two of M&M’s?
This one-bowl recipe is even easier than drop cookies and ready in under an hour, with no special equipment necessary.
Safety tip: When coating the foil-covered pan with cooking spray, hold it over the sink so the oil can’t create a slick spot on your kitchen floor.
Random Candy Cookie Bars
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 egg, at room temperature, beaten
2 ¼ cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
½ tsp. salt
1 cup chocolate candies, such as M&M’s, chopped chocolate candy bars and chopped peanut butter cups
Preheat oven to 350 °F. Line a 9” x 13” baking pan with foil; coat bottom with cooking spray.
In a large bowl, stir together sugars, butter and egg. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in candy.
Press dough into pan. Bake until lightly browned and puffy, about 20 minutes. Cool.
Using foil, lift from pan; cut into bars.
