PISCATAWAY, NJ – Piscataway fire crews responded to a mid-afternoon house fire on Sunday in the township’s Heights section.

According to the homeowner, who did not want to be identified, the fire started in an electric outlet in the Seymour Terrace home. He said he and his family were able to get out of the house safely.

Units from the River Road, Holmes Marshall, Possumtown, New Market and North Stelton fire companies were among those on scene to battle the blaze. Personnel from PSEG were able to disconnect the main power lines to the home before fire officials began their investigation.

No information was available on the extent of the damage to the house or if any firefighters were injured.

The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
