PISCATAWAY, NJ – Piscataway resident, Mario Reyes can be called a hero for saving the lives of his neighbors when a fire broke out in their West 4th Street home early Tuesday morning.
According to Piscataway Township officials in a Facebook post, Reyes caught a baby and a toddler who were dropped from a second story window by their mother to escape the flames that ultimately destroyed the house.
Reyes, who lives across the street also risked his own life going inside, bringing out one adult, they said.
The family members were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Fire crews from Piscataway’s Arbor Hose Company #1, New Market Fire Department and North Stelton Fire Company fought the blaze with support from the South Plainfield Fire Department.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
