PISCATAWAY, NJ —The Piscataway Township Police Department honored Sgt. Jose Medina and Officer Thomas Slover who retired on Tuesday.
In a Facebook post congratulating Sgt. Medina, police officials highlighted his long career in law enforcement and in the Marines.
“Prior to becoming a police officer with Piscataway Township in January 1996, Jose Medina was a former enlisted Marine Corps Veteran,” said officials. “He began his law enforcement career with the Middlesex County Department of Corrections in 1992 and became a police officer in 1996.
“In addition to serving throughout the department’s different police and detective divisions, Medina was also an adjunct Somerset County Academy Instructor for 14 years. He also helped create the Piscataway Township Police Department Youth Week Program and was a co-founder of the Piscataway Township Police Department’s ESU Team.”
Police officials also pointed out Officer Slover’s start in law enforcement 35 years ago when he was a member of the US Army’s military police.
“Prior to becoming a police officer with Piscataway Township in August 1989, Thomas Slover began his law enforcement career with the U.S Army 50th Armored Division Military Police Company in 1985,” they said.
“Officer Slover retires with numerous citations, including meritorious service ribbons, defibrillation awards, and several lifesaving awards. While employed as an officer, he was assigned to the Patrol, Detective & Narcotics Divisions. The highlights of his career were delivering a baby and saving a choking infant.”
The Piscataway Police thanked the retiring officers for their loyal and dedicated service to the police force and to the residents of the community.
