PISCATAWAY, NJ - Piscataway Township Police announced that a new citizen police academy is now available for seniors to learn more about law enforcement and how to be better empowered to help the community.

This free, six-week Senior Police Academy will be held at the Piscataway Police Department, 555 Sidney Road on Thursdays from 10:00 am - 11:30 a.m. 

Classes will begin on October 17 and concludes with a graduation ceremony.

Sixteen spaces are available this year on a first come, first serve basis for seniors 65 years of age or older who pass a background check.  Additional names will be put on a waiting list for the next class.

Participants will receive an overview of the police department’s organization and instruction on a variety of topics including crime prevention, internet security, telephone scams, prescription drug disposal and fire prevention.
