PISCATAWAY, NJ — Three people were thrown from an SUV that overturned early Thursday morning on Route 287 South, killing a woman and injuring two children.

The crash happened at about 3:35 a.m. south of Exit 7 for South Randolphville Road in Piscataway.

According to a news report from Eyewitness News, the driver may have lost control of the Toyota RAV 4 which overturned before crashing into a wooded area near the onramp from South Randolphville Road.

The woman was pronounced dead at RWJ Hospital in New Brunswick. The children were listed in stable condition.

The driver, who may have also been ejected, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The right lane was closed and traffic was slowed through the area until mid-morning as crews worked to clear the scene. All lanes were reopened at 9:50 a.m.
