With about a minute left in the first half, Elizabeth (1-7) made a play on special teams as it blocked a punt. Moments later, Alterek Little connected through the air to Yasir Pierce for a 30-yard touchdown pass to make it 9-7.

On the ensuing kickoff, Kristopher Hernandez returned it over 50 yards down to just about the Elizabeth 39-yard line.

Hernandez then found his brother, Khristian, a running back, out of the backfield for two passes. With under 20 seconds left in the opening half, Khristian Hernandez punched in a 2-yard rushing touchdown on the outside.

Piscataway led 15-7 at the half and the score remained that way until the fourth quarter when Kristopher Hernandez found Sherrod Cooper for a 29-yard touchdown pass. Konya made the PAT to make it 22-7.

For Elizabeth, Little went 6-for-15 for 110 yards with the one score and three picks. Running back Abdul Tucker had 15 carries for 120 yards. Jadon Franklin made nine tackles while Anthony Rodriguez had eight stops on defense.

This was the first matchup between the two teams since 2014 when Elizabeth won. In the 2012 North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 championship, the Minutemen also won late in a shocker at Kean. Piscataway won the year prior in the N2G4 title game at Rutgers.

In the regular season finale next week, Piscataway will face Hillsborough on Friday at 7:00 p.m. The Raiders are 5-2 on the year and are averaging 23.6 points per game offensively with three games with over 30 points scored.

Piscataway last played Hillsborough on Sept. 7, 2007. The Chiefs won, 41-14, on the road.
