PLAINFIELD, NJ – TAPinto Plainfield takes a look at the top ten stories in Arts & Entertainment that defined 2018 in the City of Plainfield.

Plainfield’s 4th of July festivities garnered two of the top ten:

MLK celebrations in 2018 included the Plainfield Area NAACP, the annual MLK food drive and potluck celebration at the home of Mayor Adrian O. Mapp and First Lady Amelia Mapp, and the Plainfield Area Club of Frontiers International’s annual memorial breakfast.  This year’s Frontiers breakfast will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019.

An article about Plainfield kids who went camping with first responders at duCret School of Art was popular.  The event was the idea of Officer Bernel Harrison.

The City of Plainfield held its annual Halloween Trunk or Treat event at City Hall.  The Plainfield Rescue Squad beat out the Police and Fire Divisions for bragging rights with its "zambulance" trunk.

There was a large amount of interest in registration for the FOSH garage sale held in May.  It was the 25th annual Friends of Sleepy Hollow town-wide event.

The Netherwood Heights Neighbors Association's annual luminary light display was quite the sight on Christmas Eve.  The group has been holding this event since 2006, weather permitting.

The PSO house tour started at duCret School of Art, the sight of holiday craft fair.  Participants picked up their maps of seven Plainfield homes on the tour.

The Division of Parks and Recreation annual Easter egg hunt event included over 2,500 eggs that were hidden around Cedar Brook Park.

National Night Out, held on the first Tuesday in August, is a chance for police and community to join together, and to make neighborhoods safer.  Take a look at the event that took place at City Hall.
