BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Several senior students in the Academy for Health and Medical Sciences at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School were selected as poster winners at the 18th Annual CTAUN Conference 2017 entitled, “The Refugee Challenge of the 21st Century,” held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City.
The 12 SCVTHS students, including four from Hillsborough, were called in front of more than 800 attendees at the conference to present their posters and receive certificates.
The SCVTHS students who were selected were Malak Akinlabi of Franklin Park; Robert Bender of Hillsborough; Shubhamkumar Gohil of Hillsborough; Gabrielle Jacob of North Plainfield; Chloe Jen of Bridgewater; Jack Kinst of Hillsborough; Kristen Marcinek of Green Brook; Alok Pillai of Hillsborough; Christopher Santos of Branchburg; Emily Siniscalco of Flemington; Nichole Sorge of Milford; and Christopher Warren of North Plainfield.
SCVTHS Supervisor of Academics Teresa Morelli spoke of the trip saying, “The day-long event increased awareness of the refugee movement, and students strategized with other participants to find possible solutions to this problem. Students also networked with both peers and with educators.”
