PLAINFIELD, NJ - After another successful donation drive, LiVay Sweet Shop donated approximately 288 bars of soap to the Plainfield YMCA’s emergency shelter.
The donation was made possible due to the overwhelming response to LiVay’s Soap for Hope drive held the weekend of June 10th when over 1500 unused bars of soap were collected.
Plainfield YMCA CEO, Ravenell Williams, and Theresa McCoy, Director of Housing Services, were on hand to accept the donation from LiVay and her staff. After a brief overview of the housing services provided, LiVay and her team took a brief tour of the shelter facilities. The shelter has been operating since 1980 and provides an average of 30 residents and/or families per day with emergency housing, which includes sleeping quarters and one hot meal, as well as social services.
