WESTFIELD, NJ — After months sitting empty and idle, construction activity appears to be picking up at the site of Trader Joe’s in Downtown Westfield. Trucks were been seen Monday front of what is left of the building, which was mostly demolished in February after its roof collapsed in a winter storm.
“It is awesome!!” Downtown Westfield Corporation Executive Director wrote to TAP into Westfield. “Best welcome sign.”
Rumors swirled when construction did not begin at the end of May as had been expected, but Alison Mochizuki, national director of public relations for Trader Joe’s, told TAP into Westfield Monday that TJ’s still intends to open there.
“As soon as we have a realistic timeframe, we will share our plans,” she said.
