Plainfield, NJ – June 30, 2017 – The Plainfield Public School District is proud to support Alexis Morrast, a tenth grader, who will be the Grand Marshall for the City of Plainfield’s parade for the upcoming 4th of July Celebration. The 94th Annual Central Jersey Independence Day parade will kick off at 10:00 AM.
“We wish Ms. Morrast great joy on her participation in the parade. Our district will be there celebrating with Ms. Morrast with a large contingent that includes our district’s children, cheerleaders, band, our board of education and our families,” said Dr. Caryn D. Cooper, newly appointed Acting Superintendent of Plainfield Public Schools.
The Plainfield Public School District’s representation marching along with Ms. Morrast will include members of the Plainfield Board of Education, Plainfield High School Varsity Cheerleaders, Plainfield Board of Education Administration, Plainfield High School Robotics Team, Plainfield Athletics Marching Band, Plainfield High School Varsity Football Team, and students from Emerson and Cook schools. The Emerson and Cook students will be performing musical selections from their performances in Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog,” and “Aladdin,” respectively.
The district’s Information Department will be filming and recording the event for future broadcast on our public access television stations on FIOS and Comcast – Channels 97 and 30.
Ms. Morrast is a 10th grader at the Plainfield Academy for the Arts and Advanced Studies (PAAAS). This February she won the Apollo’s National Competition that was broadcasted on Fox Television. Ms. Morrast, the youngest of six, began her singing career at age 3.
