PLAINFIELD, NJ - Earlier today, April 17th, the drawing for Democratic ballot positions in the June 2017 primary election was conducted by the County Clerk’s Office in Union County.
Democratic Party candidate Phil Murphy, running for Governor, will appear in Column A. The slate of Union County Democrats, including Freeholders, will also appear in this column.
Gubernatorial candidate Jim Johnson will be listed in Column B, Ray Lesniak will appear in Column C, and Column F will be occupied by John Wisniewski.
Locally, ballots prove to be interesting. Plainfield mayoral incumbent Adrian O. Mapp and his team will appear under Phil Murphy’s Column A.
Since the remaining mayoral candidates cannot be placed under other gubernatorial ones, they, along with their slates, will all appear in Column G.
Plainfield Municipal Clerk Abubakar T. Jalloh selected positions within that column. Tracey Brown will be placed in the first position; Dr. Henrilynn Davis Ibezim will appear second; and Councilwoman Bridget Rivers will be in the third position. While this is not the first time this has happened in Plainfield politics, it is rare.
In related news, Gerald B. Green, who was running for Democratic City Committee in the 2-6, has dropped out of that race. Unless there is a successful write-in for the male spot in that Ward and District, the City Committee will select someone. Green remains on the ballot for NJ Assembly.
