BAYONNE, NJ - An arrest has been made in conjunction with the Monday night Twitter threat made towards Bayonne Public Schools.
According to a Facebook post from Mayor Jimmy Davis, police charged a 13 year old with making terroristic threats and false public alarm for a tweet sent out early Tuesday morning. Investigators don't believe there was ever a threat associated with the latest post.
"This is being viewed as a copy cat incident done to create fear in the school community," a Bayonne Police Department statement said. "Along with the arrest, detectives also seized various evidence related to this incident."
Police are still investigating the original post, as well as the second threat that ultimately forced Davis and Interim Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Wanko to close all schools on Monday.
"Rest assured that the BPD, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies will continue to work diligently to identify and hold accountable those responsible for the other threats," Davis said. "I will continue to provide updates as they become available."
