PLAINFIELD, NJ - Calvary Baptist Church in Plainfield is celebrating its 120th Anniversary with a series of events this month.

Rev. Clinton Parker III, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church announced a lineup of influential religious leaders who will participate in the church's anniversary that will begin with a special unveiling of a headstone for Lula Scott, one of the founders of the landmark church.

  • Nov. 12 - The unveiling of Lula Scott’s headstone at Hillside Cemetery, located at 1401 Woodland Avenue in Scotch Plains.
  • Nov. 15 - Rev. Tracy Brown, Pastor of Ruth Fellowship Ministries in Plainfield, will be guest preacher at 7:30 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.
  • Nov. 18 - Rev. Ralph Branch, Pastor of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Newark, will be the special guest speaker at the 120th Anniversary Dinner at Gran Centurions, 440 Madison Hill Road, Clark, NJ 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $60.00 for adults, and $25 for children 12 years and under.
  • Nov. 19 -  Rev. Dr. William Gerald Howard of Galilee Baptist Church in Trenton will serve as the keynote speaker at a 10:45 a.m. service at Calvary Baptist Church.

Calvary Baptist Church has been a staple for the African-American community, with a rich history that provides spiritual guidance and resources for the community.
