NEWARK, NJ - Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose have announced that police have recovered the vehicle that was taken from homicide victim Shuri Henry, who was shot and killed Thursday evening (11/23/17) on South 20th Street in Newark. On Friday morning (11/24/17), patrol officers from the Newark Police Department located the victim’s vehicle, a 2015 Kia Sorrento on 11th Avenue in Newark. Three males, two adults and one juvenile, were in the vehicle and have been detained by the police.
The investigation of this homicide is being conducted by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department. The investigation is active and ongoing, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit, who added that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
