“The goal of the Cinderella Prom Project/Prom Giveaway is to assist young ladies to cover the costs of their gown, jewelry, shoes and accessories,” said Sgt. Mahasin El Amin, of the Plainfield Police Division’s Domestic Violence/Megan’s Law Unit. “We want to give back to our community and let the young ladies know their community supports them.”

Acting Superintendent of Plainfield Public Schools, Dr. Debra J. Sheard said, “The senior prom is a rite of passage for many teens that signals the beginning of a more independent life and their graduation from High School. This is a special time for students and we thank our black women organizations for their support to help this come true for students who may not have the means to cover the costs of attending Prom.”
