SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Robert D. Keith of West Orange has been charged with stealing $715,000 from his employer Rup-Coe Plumbing located on New Market Avenue in South Plainfield. According to the South Plainfield Police, Keith, 46, was a bookkeeper at Rup-Coe and had direct access to the company’s finances. Representatives of Rup-Coe noticed discrepancies with their finances back in February 2017.

An investigation by South Plainfield Detective Joseph Glowacki and Middlesex County Investigator John Berman determined $715,000 had been stolen. Keith is accused of forging checks and using company credit cards for his own personal gain over a two year period.

Keith was charged with theft, forgery, money laundering and failure to make lawful disposition of stolen property.

Keith is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Facility pending a hearing.
