SOMERVILLE, NJ - A Manville couple has been arrested and face multiple weapons and assault charges following an incident at a Route 22 hotel in Bridgewater, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Justin M. Matthews, 37, and Deborah L. Nickerson, 35, both of Brooks Boulevard in Manville are being held in Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Bridgewater Police responded to the hotel after receiving a call reporting that a man, later identified as Matthews, had threatened the caller and pointed a gun at him shortly after 8 a.m. on Nov. 9.

Police set up a perimeter around the hotel, and evacuated guests in nearby rooms. After communicating with Matthews via telephone, both Matthews and Nickerson were taken into custody by the officers without incident.

A Superior Court Search Warrant was obtained, and a search of the hotel room resulted in the seizure of a 9mm semi-automatic handgun along with a .32 caliber revolver.

Matthews was charged with two counts of 2nd degree unlawful possession of a weapon, 2nd degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, 2nd degree certain persons not possess weapons and 4th degree aggravated assault.

Nickerson was charged with two counts of 2nd degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and 2nd degree certain persons not possess weapons.
