On Sunday, May 22 at 3:00 pm, in a concert entitled Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing, the Crescent Singers will perform a variety of works illustrating the many forms and facets of love, under the direction of F. Allen Artz, III.  This will be the final performance of Crescent Concerts’ 34th season, and the final performance directed by Maestro Artz, who is retiring at the end of this season.  The Crescent Singers perform in the splendor of the neo-Gothic Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, and will be accompanied by organist Brenda Day.

The Crescent Singers will sing of religious love, in Gustav Holst’s stirring O God, Beyond All Praising; they will sing of maternal love, in Eric Whitacre's tender setting of Rudyard Kipling’s poem The Seal Lullaby, originally written to be the theme of an animated film that was never produced; they will sing of redeeming love, in a setting of Christina Rossetti’s Love Came Down at Christmas; lost love, in Danny Boy; and will close with a beautiful setting of Elizabeth Barrett Browning’s How do I love thee? by Eric Nelson.
