SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ – Darby Road, the popular bar/restaurant on Park Ave. in Scotch Plains today announced that, with community safety in mind, it will temporarily close for a yet to be determined period of time after two members of its staff tested positive for the coronavirus.

“The health and well-being of our staff and the community are of utmost importance to us here at Darby Road, said owner Joe Mortarulo in an interview with TAPintoSPF. “As difficult a decision as this is, we feel it is  the best scenario to ensure everyone’s safety.”

Mortarulo said he is working with officials from the Health Department to determine the future date of a soft reopening.

"We would like to thank the community for all of the support we have received, and we look forward to opening again once it is determined when it is safe for us to do so,” Mortarulo added.

Darby Road, like all restaurants in Scotch Plains-Fanwood and throughout New Jersey, was hard hit by pandemic as the state shut down indoor dining for close to six months from mid-March until Friday of Labor Day Weekend.
