WARREN, NJ - The Watchung Hills football team defeated Plainfield on Friday, 35-12. Junior quarterback Chad Martini threw for 138 yards, Senior Jack Taub scored three touchdowns, Senior Terryn Stephens added one, Sophomore Brian Hayward scored his first varsity touchdown, and Junior kicker Spencer Ostroff hit all of the extra points for the Warriors.

 

“It was another great team effort by the Warriors tonight,” said WHRHS head coach Rich Seubert. “On offense the Oline paved the way running the ball for 33 times for 245 yards. Jack Taub had 289 all purpose yards tonight, 195 rushing. Chad Martini threw for 138 yards and TD passes to Stephens and Hayward.  The defense was stout all night long, recording 6 sacks on the night. (Joey) Denave and (Shane) Kelly each recorded 6 tackles each while (Anthony) Leone pitched in with 3 tackles and 2 sacks.

Chad Martini with a screen pass to Jack Taub for 40 yards putting the ball at the Cardinal 8 yard line. Offside penalty on the Cardinals puts the ball at the 4. Taub runs it in for a Warrior TD. Ostroff makes the extra point making the score 14-0.

Plainfield scores on a 33 yard TD throw and catch and miss the extra point making the score 14-6 in favor of the Warriors.

Cardinals score on a 38 yard TD pass and catch on their first possession. 2 point conversion is no good. Warriors lead 28-12 with 9:38 left in the third quarter. Warriors take over on their own 35 yard line.

Heading to the 4th quarter, Warriors lead the Cardinals 28-12. Warriors have the ball at their own 44 yard line.
