PLAINFIELD, NJ - On March 11, Organización Cultural Comunitaria, or Cultural Community Organization, hosted an indoor soccer tournament (termed “futból de sala” in Spanish) at the Young Women’s Christian Association of Plainfield and North Plainfield on East Front Street.

The Organización Cultural Comunitaria was created by local resident Oscar Arboleda to engage the Ecuadorian-American youth of the Plainfields, and to promote the culture from the city of Ambato, Ecuador, from where many Plainfield immigrants emigrated.

The soccer tournament also featured the Condors of Plainfield, a dance troupe composed of first-generation Ecuadorian-American children, to perform traditional Ambateño dance.
