HILLSBOROUGH, NJ - Christopher Ireland has been appointed the new Supervisor of Visual/Performing Arts and Related Areas for the township school district.
He was approved by the Hillsborough Board of Education at the July 22 meeting and will begin his new position with the district in September.
“Mr. Ireland’s energetic passion and knowledge of arts education as well as his eclectic. well-rounded experiences will serve him well as he leads the related arts departments,” said Hillsborough Township Public Schools assistant superintendent, Dr. Lisa Antunes.
Ireland, who began his professional teaching career in Plainfield graduated cum laude from Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. Additionally, he holds a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from The College of New Jersey.
Since 2006, Ireland has enjoyed a long tenure with the Bridgewater Public Schools teaching instrumental music at Hillside Intermediate School. In addition to thriving in the classroom, Ireland has been central in collaboratively assisting with various district initiatives and serving on committees including the district safety committee, curriculum writing team, crisis team, and countless others.
In addition to his work in education, Ireland has served as EMT Program Director for RWJ Barnabas Health, served Bridgewater in the capacity of Fire Commissioner, and worked as Chief of the Bradley Gardens Rescue Squad.
