SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – Holy Savior Academy (HAS), located at 149 South Plainfield Avenue, will hold its first Homecoming Community Event on Saturday, Sept. 22. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the school parking lot and feature fun activities for the whole family. Alumni, along with members of the community and current students and their families, are invited to attend.
“This is the first year we are holding this; the idea was to invite the alumni from the schools that became Holy Savior and reconnect our school community,” said Melodie Sidun, president of the Holy Savior Academy PTO. “We hope to get our alumni back and more involved and establish relationships with our current students and staff.”
Holy Savior Academy opened its doors in September 2011 and is currently the newest Catholic school in the Diocese of Metuchen with students stemming from Middlesex, Somerset and Union counties. A regional school founded by the pastors of the Middlebrook Deanery, Holy Savior is governed by a Board of Limited Jurisdiction comprised of individuals from parishes within in the communities of Bound Brook, Dunellen, Edison, Middlesex, North Plainfield, Piscataway, South Bound Brook, and South Plainfield.
During the Sept. 22 Homecoming event, tours of the school will be offered and there will be food as a dunk tank and carnival games for prizes. Admission is free with 100-percent of the proceeds from food sales and games, according to Sidun, going back to the school.
“We are hoping this will be a fun day to reconnect with old friends and make new ones,” said Sidun. “This is just another way to support the school, have fun, and help build the HAS community.”
