Holy Trinity School finished in 14th place out of 43 schools in the K-8 Under 750 Rating Section of the 2016 National Junior High Chess Championship that was held in Indianapolis, Indiana from April 15-17, 2016.  The competition is open to public and private school students in grades K-8 from across the nation.  Over 1,100 players participated in the event, with over 300 school teams competing in Championship, Under 1000 Rating, and Under 750 Rating Sections.

Representing the Team in the Under 750 Rating Section for grades K through 8 were Sebastian Agasino, Daniel Cao, Ryan Bergh-Thies, Owen Mitchell, and Hannah Cumming. They combined for 16.5 points (of a possible 28).

Special congratulations goes to Alex Cumming who finished in 2nd place overall out of over 200 players in the Under 1000 Rating Section with 6.5 points (out of 7).  Alex won six of his games, drew one, and had no losses.

Holy Trinity School is a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School located in Westfield, NJ.  Its mission is to educate students to actualize their full, individual potential both spiritually and academically, while adhering to the tenets of the Roman Catholic Church.
