PLAINFIELD, NJ — Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked some havoc as it made its way through Plainfield Tuesday, with downed trees and live wires, and power outages being reported. The whirs of some generators can now be heard.

Areas to avoid include Leland Avenue heading towards Cushing Lane. Firefighters were on scene and flames were spotted on the ground. East Seventh Street had been closed off for similar reasons. 

Other areas with downed trees around town include Belvidere Avenue and Park Terrace, and Kensington Avenue between Watchung and Putnam avenues.

Power outages are being reported. PSE&G advises customers:

  • Download the PSE&G mobile app.
  • Text OUT or STAT to 4PSEG (47734) to manage an outage by text.
  • Visit our Outage Center to report an outage and view our Outage Map.
  • Call 1-800-436-7734 for electric emergencies, including downed wires.
