PLAINFIELD, NJ - Catherine S. Medich is a reference archivist at the New Jersey State Archives, located in Trenton, and the state's official research center for public records with historical value.  She will be at the Plainfield Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. to provide an overview of the genealogically relevant collections held by the New Jersey State Archives.  

The State Archives current holdings amount to over 37,000 cubic feet of paper records and over 32,000 reels of microfilm.  Its records date from the founding of the state as a British colony in 1664 to the present.

Items to be discussed by Medich include New Jersey vital records, wills and inventories, court records, and county records.  She  will also review the Archives’ website and how it can be used for research.
