WARREN, NJ - Police have advised that multiple car accidents have occurred on Interstate 78 near mile marker 38 with two fatalities and others with serious injuries.
Route 78 westbound was closed a little after 9:00pm.
According to a report in NJ.com State Police attempted to pull over a vehicle that was driving erratically heading westbound in the area of Berkley Heights. The Police followed the vehicle for a number of miles before it drove off the road and into the woods in Warren. Two passengers in the vehicle were killed.
In the same area there was another accident this one involving a pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle in this accident in this accident suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Morristown Memorial Hospital. The victim being flown to Morristown Memorial is reported to be a 30 year old male. The status of the pedestrian has not been released.
Police are reporting heavy traffic delays both eastbound and westbound on Route 78. Authorities were forcing westbound traffic off at Exit #40 Watchung and the Plainfields.
