SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – A motor vehicle knocked down the traffic light at the corner of Hamilton Boulevard and Belmont Avenue earlier today slowing traffic for the evening commute. The Borough of South Plainfield issued a Nixle Alert at 3:42pm warning residents of the downed utility signal.

Emergency crews were on scene at 6:45pm preparing to repair the downed signal. The traffic signal was knocked off its foundation and was hung up on utility lines. No timeframe has been given on when the signal will be operational.
