TAPinto Travels Locale - Sunny skies and spring weather have finally arrived in New Jersey. With the forecast finally showing mild temperatures, everyone is eager to bring their family to one of the many fantastic events happening this weekend throughout the state. The following are a few highlights you won’t want to miss.
All aboard the Easter Bunny Express this coming weekend! This laid-back, all-ages train ride will leave Flemington station and take a 25-minute scenic ride to Ringoes. After a brief pit stop, ticketholders will re-board the train for their return to Flemington. Peter Cottontail will be on the train, available for pictures and to hand out surprise treats. Advanced tickets for the diesel train are recommended and can be purchased through the railroad’s website.
It’s not too late to gather up the kids and attend one of the area’s annual Easter Egg hunts. One of the most popular hunts in Northern New Jersey takes place at Heaven Hill Farm in Sussex County on April 15. Throughout the day, there will be multiple times for the egg hunts and scheduled hayrides. An Easter bonnet contest will also be held. No pre-registration is required.
If you're in Morris County, you must travel to the Chester-based Alstede Farms for their springtime-themed weekend festivals. This coming weekend, the farm has added Friday and Saturday seatings for Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. For one low admission price, you can buy entry into the festival for admission to the farm's Easter Egg Hunt, hay rides, moon bounce rides, scavenger hunt, and more.
Looking for something a little out of the ordinary to do this weekend? Then you should head down to Wellmont Theatre in Montclair on Saturday for the Strange Xchange to buy unusual and unique gifts for everyone in your family. Soaps, leather jewelry, henna tattoos, and more will be available. Robert Bruce from “Comic Book Men” and the Easter Bunny will be there to add star power to the event. Advance tickets are available for purchase.
