The injured 16-year-old boy was flown to Morristown Memorial Hospital by State Police NorthStar medevac helicopter with non-life threatening injuries, according to the press release.

“This accident is a terrible tragedy,” Kearns said. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the young men involved.”

The death has shaken the school community. To offer support, North Hunterdon High School will have counselors at the school tomorrow – July 1 – from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the school’s Cafeteria B.

First responders have taken to social media to share their care and concerns with the victims’ family and friends.

“During this very sad time, it is important that we pull together as a community to support one another and keep the student’s family in our thoughts and prayers,” the school wrote in a statement. “In order to be sensitive to the family during this tragic time, we are unable to release any further details at this time.

The investigation into the accident will be conducted by Franklin Township police under the supervision of Kearns’ Forensic Analysis Collision Team with the assistance of the State Police Fatal Accident Unit.

Assisting at the scene of the accident were Kearns’ office, Franklin Township police, State Police, Quakertown Fire Department and Rescue Squad, Clinton Fire, Clinton First Aid & Rescue Squad, Hunterdon County MICU, Hunterdon County Medical Examiner’s Office, Superior Towing Company and Hunterdon County Garage Services.

As I made my way around the lake, it was easy to see how ...

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

How does a reviewer do justice to a book called “the great American novel”? I first read Johnny Got His Gun during the Viet Nam war, when young people, nationwide, were protesting fighting in a war that was a senseless waste of life; a war in which the United States had no business participating.

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
