NUTLEY / BELLEVILLE, NJ - Police from Nutley, Belleville, Newark, and the Essex County Prosecutor's office  responded to reports of a shooting in the area of King Street and Berton Place on the Nutley Belleville border. The incident took place at approximately 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. 

Initial reports indicated 'shots fired' with one person in custody and another fleeing in a gold Cadillac SUV. 

Breaking News Network reported the possibility of two people shot.

At the scene, police units were scene looking for evidence and shell casings. A K-9 unit was also used on the scene. According to residents of the area, the border between Nutley and Belleville runs right through the area in which the people were searching for evidence. 

Police on the scene are not permitted to give any information to the media. The Essex County Prosecutors office is taking the lead on the investigation. 

This is a developing story. Details will be shared when they become available.
