LIVINGSTON, NJ — A Star Ledger delivery truck struck and killed a pedestrian at approximately 1 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of South Orange Avenue just west of JFK Parkway, according to Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert Laurino and Livingston Police Chief Craig Handschuch.
Although there are no criminal charges at this time, the Livingston Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the incident.
The pedestrian has not yet been identified. The preliminary investigation indicates that he appeared to be a middle-aged Hispanic man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver, whose credentials were in order, remained at the scene, rendered assistance and called for help.
