ELIZABETH, NJ -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle this morning in Elizabeth, authorities said.

The victim was hit on York Street around 6:20 a.m. and pronounced dead at the scene, Elizabeth police Captain Andrew King said. 

The driver of the vehicle stopped, King said. No charges have been filed in the incident.

Police are not releasing the identity of the victim until family members can be notified.
