A combined total of $100,000 in scholarships was awarded to the 2018 senior class of Plainfield High School at its annual Clearinghouse Scholarship and Senior Awards Program. The Board of Education, PHS faculty, friends and family members gathered in the cafeteria to congratulate the senior class members. The Clearinghouse Scholarship program was coordinated by Mr. Anthony Galarza, Professional School Counselor at PHS and Ms. Denise Shipman, Director of Guidance as well as other school counselors. Over 23 various sponsors and organizations selected students based on leadership, academic achievement and studies in specific areas of study, and were present to congratulate and award the students with their monetary awards. New to the scholarship list was the Kayla Spooner Memorial Scholarship which was created less than a year ago by the Spooner family to honor the passing of their daughter, a PHS student.
Uriah Hanna and Charles Talley received the largest individual awards of the night. Hanna received the Lincoln Tech Scholarship award of $10,000 (Non-Clearinghouse Award) and Talley, received $6,000 from the PHS Hall of Fame.
